May Meeting Full of Characters
Join us for our May meeting at the Sunrise Community Hall at 1950 Windermere St. Vancouver. Our workshop will be Developing your Performance Character.
Do you ever think about the "character" you are presenting to your audience? Would you like to develop more tools and techniques to hone the character into the best possible representation of your magic?
This workshop will focus on some basic elements of theatrical characterization used by professional actors. Some of the topics covered will be:
- 5 basic elements of character
- Magical Archetypes
- Laban Effort Energies
- Objectives and Tactics
- Incorporating improvisation
- Performing as "yourself"
- Distinctions between stage and walk around characters
We're hoping this workshop to be more collaborative and less lecture-style. We invite all members of the VMC to come and discuss the "how" and "why" of their performing characters. Hope you see you there!

The Jeff McBride Experience!
Mark your calendars for the upcoming Jeff McBride Experience...2 days of incredible magic performance and teaching! Proceeds from this event go to the children's charity Free the Children in memory of Jonah Christensen. The goal is to raise $8,500 to help build a classroom in Kenya.
